FONDANT ROSE

Sooo, I experimented with fondant today and made my first rose!! I think it turned out okay!! I watched this video and used this recipe. It was really fun, and easy!!

BIRTHDAY

My daughter is turning one!!! In two months...BUT i am so excited I've already started planning her party :) AND, I've been wanting to work with fondant more, so I've been looking for cute cake ideas. I know this is kinda ridiculous considering she isn't going to remember any of this, but I can't help it...

This is the cake that I am using for my inspiration :) The one I want to make isn't going to be two tiered, but I love the rose and the butterfly's. I've only made one fondant cake in my life so I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out hideous, but I'm going to try!!

I'm also going to make cupcakes like this :) THIS should be the easy one!!

DECORATIVE BALLS

I love the decorative balls that you can put in bowls or vases, but they are sooo expensive!! So I decided to make my own, and got my inspiration here!! Here's what I came up with!!

The supplies :)
a vase, twine, styrofoam balls, black beans, and some moss - all purchased at the dollar store!!

I don't really know how to describe how i did this..I just kind of wrapped the moss around the ball and glued it in a few spots. I've never worked with moss before but it kind of holds its form, so it didn't need much glue at all.

Then, using hot glue, start at the top and wrap the twine around the ball. Sooo simple.

Here i just used black beans and hot glued them on their ends around the ball and just repeated the pattern.

Total price: $6.00
and i have more than enough supplies left over to probably make like 5 more of these!!

ROLLED FABRIC FLOWER

I may be obsessed with making hair accessories for my daughter..I think these rolled fabric flowers are really cute. Here's how I did it!

Grabbed some cute fabric. Cut a strip about 3'' wide and 24'' long.

twisted the fabric real tight.

Then folded it in half and twisted it back on itself. (it should really twist on its own)

I hot glued the loose ends together and rolled it, to secure it.

]Then, just roll the fabric around itself and hot glue it along the way!

And you get a cute flower!!

I love this bedding from Anthropologie. For a queen, it costs $268.00. I could never in good conscience spend that much money on a blanket..I want to, but no way..soooo, i found a tutorial online. She spent around $30. I must make this!! First, i must get my house in order, since i have yet to finish unpacking all the way :/ I can tell my husband might be a tad frustrated with me for not being done by now, when i'm home all day long. So, i will get to this project....soon.

FLOWER

So, i love putting flowers in my little girls hair, but i'm not a fan of the ones that are bigger than her head...So i found a huge flower at Michaels for $1.00 and made it just right for her!!

the original

I pulled the back off

then the front...

separated the pieces

chose the ones i wanted

grabbed some cute buttons

sewed the button on and attached a clip!!! Not too big, not too small.
